What is a Republican?

As an independent, I’m trying to see from the point of view of a Republican, and it’s difficult. When asked to describe the Republican Party and its ideals in just one word, several words, such as “America”, “Greatness”, and “Fantasmic”, cross one’s mind; however, most would finally settle upon “impossible”, as it is impossible to describe the Grand Ol’ Party (GOP) in just one word. The 250 year old organization has its roots in conservatism; however, few people understand the true meaning of the word “conservative.” A conservative is defined as one in favor of preserving the status quo and traditional values. Conservatives simply want to keep America as it is, which is picture perfect.

With all these rumors flying about with seemingly homosexual, and ironically homophobic, Republican senators, it is more apparent than ever that the United States of America is in dire straits in terms of its cultural mayhem. In the 1980’s, America was the one and only world superpower. The American people were all built “Ford Tough”, loved baseball, craved only apple pie, and no one was completely dependent on the government for social support.

What do Republicans believe? It is actually quite simple, Republicans believe in what is “right”. Republicans, who make up a majority of the Christian Right, are the most honorable, most intelligent, and the strongest citizens of these United States. Republicans jokingly say that GOP stands for “God’s Own Party”, as it would be God’s political affiliation if He had to choose.

Republicans are as “America” as an Americans can get. Certain people may attempt to lead one to believe that Republican’s do not have souls, and that could not be further from the truth. In fact, they all have souls; they simply do not feel the need to use them when it comes to communal programs such as socialized medicine. Instead, they use our souls to help the economy, boost citizen’s morale, and increase the standard of living.

Another common erroneous belief is that Republicans are just rich, old, white men that want more money. Again, this is a completely false. The demographics of the Republican Party are as varied as that of the United States itself. Republicans have never, and will never specifically persecute any minority, be it by sexual preference, race, or creed. In fact, one of the founding fathers of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln, was believed to have been an agnostic.

Recently, it was discovered that there is actually a neurological difference between people who consider themselves liberals and those who consider themselves conservatives. According to the French Associated Press, the results showed that conservatives “…crave order and structure in their lives, and are more consistent…” while the liberals “…show a higher tolerance for ambiguity and complexity…”

Order, structure, and consistency are what America is built upon, not ambiguity and complexity. With a war still going on, it is more imperative than ever before that we have a consistent and structured conservative government. As Ronald Reagan, the champion of conservatism and consistency (may Allah bless his soul), said, “A people free to choose will always choose peace,” and not even a Democrat can argue with that.
